Program Summary
The Hispanic Community Services Initiative is designed to improve financial stability and community integration through services targeted to the Lower Columbia region’s Hispanic community. The Hispanic community is a critical part of the natural resource industries in which they work, and many face special challenges in achieving the economic opportunity they sought when they left their home countries.
Enterprise Cascadia, in partnership with the Lower Columbia Hispanic Council, is committed to offering immigrant families products and services that support their success.
Through the Lower Columbia Hispanic Council, the Hispanic Community Services Initiative provides:
- Financial education and training to Hispanic immigrants, often in cooperation with their employers. This portion of the Hispanic Community Services Initiative includes assistance in establishing banking relationships with regulated financial institutions; credit and financial counseling; training designed to increase basic financial management skills and diminish the risk of financial crises; and assistance with obtaining documentation for the IRS and/or Mexican government that legitimizes regulated financial transactions;
- Community services and improved access to health, social and educational services for the Hispanic community through collaboration with other loan organizations; and
- Financial products in the form of business development services and loans are available to existing and emerging businesses.
